"My art practice encompasses mainly painting and sculpting. I tell stories about my experience of living in a female body, I see my work as a series of documentaries that contains explorations in reflections and emotions. My creative process is improvisational. I let my subconscious take over to mark lines and shapes to build imagery without draft. I apply a similar method to sculpting: sculptures are gradually formed bit by bit, constructed by fragments of randomly shaped blocks." - Chiayun Hu
